Build Green Kingston was a research-driven capstone project focused on promoting sustainable architecture through a more accessible and user-friendly digital experience. The project explored the barriers preventing homeowners and prospective builders from adopting sustainable building practices and aimed to create a platform that could better support education, awareness, and long-term environmental impact.
Through surveys, interviews, literature reviews, and user testing, the project identified key challenges surrounding accessibility, public awareness, financial incentives, and information clarity. These findings informed the development of a digital platform designed to simplify complex sustainability topics through educational resources, case studies, incentive information, and interactive tools.
The final solution focused heavily on usability, accessibility, and clear information hierarchy while maintaining a clean and approachable visual system. This project allowed me to combine research, UX thinking, branding, and interface design into a solution intended to support meaningful community impact and encourage more sustainable building practices throughout Kingston.

The project was shaped heavily through user research, surveys, interviews, and usability testing to better understand the barriers preventing people from adopting sustainable building practices. Many participants expressed concerns surrounding accessibility, cost, lack of awareness, and difficulty finding reliable information.
The final platform was designed to simplify these challenges through intuitive navigation, educational resources, incentive information, case studies, and interactive tools that help users better understand the long-term value of sustainable architecture. The visual direction focused on clarity, accessibility, and trust while maintaining a modern and approachable experience.
