Designing visual systems that connect people, ideas, and experiences.

A Little About Me

Hi, I’m Owen Denesuik.

In case you were wondering, my last name is Ukrainian. Fun fact, somewhere along the line my family name was either misspelled on purpose to make it easier to pronounce, or my great grandfather accidentally spelled it wrong himself. Now an entire branch of my family spells it differently from our distant relatives who still use “-iuk” instead of “-uik”.

I think that story says a lot about why I enjoy design. Small and subtle changes can completely shift the way something is experienced, understood, or remembered. Sometimes the smallest adjustment ends up having the biggest impact.

That mindset shapes the way I approach my work. I enjoy creating design systems that feel thoughtful, intentional, and connected, whether that’s through branding, websites, campaigns, or print. I’m especially drawn to projects that combine strategy and creativity in ways people may not immediately notice, but definitely feel.

CREATIVE INTERESTS

Creativity has always been a big part of my life, even outside of design. I enjoy working on personal projects, exploring new ideas, experimenting with layouts and branding systems, and finding inspiration in everyday things. A lot of my creative interests come from real-world experiences. Local events, music, architecture, signage, packaging, downtown spaces, and seeing how people interact with visual environments.

I’m especially interested in work that exists both digitally and physically. There’s something rewarding about seeing design move beyond a screen and become part of an actual experience, whether that’s through posters, websites, environmental graphics, branding, or print materials. I enjoy projects that challenge me to think differently and push me creatively.

Outside of design, I spend a lot of time listening to music, building OWL Creative Company, exploring Kingston’s creative community, and taking on projects that help me grow both creatively and personally. I genuinely enjoy collaborating with others and being part of the process from idea to final result.

At the end of the day, I care about creating work that feels thoughtful, human, and memorable. I’m always looking for opportunities to learn, improve, and create something meaningful with the people around me.
