The Downtown Kingston Integrated Plan was an opportunity to explore how civic communication could feel more visually cohesive, engaging, and approachable. The project focused on developing a modern identity system that could unify planning initiatives, public communication, and future-facing city growth under one recognizable visual language.
The final identity combines structured typography, modular layouts, and a flexible graphic system inspired by connection, movement, and integration throughout the downtown core. The system was designed to adapt across digital, print, presentation, and environmental applications while maintaining clarity and consistency throughout the experience.
What interested me most about this project was finding the balance between professionalism and accessibility. Civic design often leans heavily corporate or overly institutional, so the challenge became creating something that still felt contemporary, human, and connected to the community it represents.

The identity system was influenced by the structure and movement found throughout downtown Kingston, particularly within street layouts, intersections, and pathways that naturally connect the city together. The folded “K” element was designed to feel modular and hand-crafted, representing separate pieces coming together to form a larger connected system.
